About this course

Rooted in lived experience

Jonathan's path into plant and mushroom medicine started as a personal one. Facing his own health challenges early on, he turned to the natural sciences and found a way forward through mycology, studying and cultivating mushrooms while working as an assistant in a pathology lab in the Pacific Northwest.

In 2019 he founded Evolved Mushrooms to bring holistic wellness and mycology education to his community. Over six years he has developed unique herbal mushroom formulas, hosted large-scale community events and local workshops, and helped people work through real health challenges, with a particular focus on mental wellness.

This course is a direct extension of that work. Every extraction method taught here is one Jonathan uses himself. The curriculum is built from practice, not theory.

The curriculum

Seven modules.
Six finished tinctures.

Each module builds on the last. You'll start a new extraction every few weeks, so by the end of the course you have multiple finished products in hand.

What you will walk away with

Real skills. Real medicine. Made by you.

By the end of the course you won't just know what a tincture is, you'll have made five.

🧪
6 finished tinctures you made yourself

Not a kit, not a simulation. By the end of the course you will have produced five shelf-stable extracts from scratch: selecting your material, choosing your solvent, and running the process end-to-end.

🔬
Understand why, not just how

Know best practices for extracting different ingredients, why ratios matter, and how to troubleshoot when something goes wrong.

🏷️
Read any label with confidence

Evaluate commercial tinctures for real potency. Know what the extraction method, ratio, and ingredient sourcing actually mean.

🍄
Work with medicinal mushrooms properly

Understand what Lion's Mane, Reishi, and Chaga actually require to extract their active compounds, and how to do it correctly at home.

🌿
Build a personal apothecary

Leave with the knowledge to design your own formulations, select solvents for specific compounds, and build a practice that compounds over time.

👥
A community doing the same work

Access to the Liminalis Circle, where you can share batches, troubleshoot, and keep learning with other makers and the instructor.

One-time setup. Most tools are reusable for every extraction you make afterward. A full sourcing guide with trusted suppliers is included in the course.

$150–250 All-in, one-time

A note on safety and materials

This course requires food-grade ethanol, specifically grain alcohol intended for human consumption. Do not substitute isopropyl or denatured alcohol. These are toxic. The course specifies exactly what to buy and where.

For the mushroom modules, the course strongly recommends using commercially sourced, verified dried material rather than wildcrafted mushrooms, particularly for beginners. A sourcing guide with trusted suppliers is included.

This course is educational, not medical advice. If you are pregnant, nursing, or currently managing a health condition with the support of a doctor, consult them before adding medicinal mushroom or plant extracts to your routine.

Frequently Asked

Common questions.

These are the things most people want to know before enrolling.

No. The course is built for curious beginners. Every term, ratio, and method is explained from first principles, and labs are paced so you can follow along at home without a background in chemistry or formal herbalism training.

The seven modules can be worked through in about six to eight weeks if you're pacing yourself, but the lab timelines (maceration, dual extraction) run in the background for one to four weeks each. You keep lifetime access, so it's fine to move at your own speed.

Plan for roughly $150–$250 all-in for a full setup: scale, jars, dropper bottles, filtration, food-grade grain alcohol, and your chosen herbs and mushrooms. The full materials list is included in the course.

Making plant and mushroom extracts for personal use with food-grade ingredients is legal in the U.S. and most other countries. Selling them is a different matter and requires additional licensing. This course focuses on personal-use medicine making.

The Liminalis Circle is where students share batches, troubleshoot, and keep learning after the course. Waitlist members get three months free with the launch price, then it's $24.95/month. You can stay for as long as it's useful to you.

We strongly recommend sourcing reliable, organic ingredients. If you can't verify that something is clean and safe, we don't recommend using it.

Yes. If the course isn't what you expected within the first 14 days, reach out and you'll get a full refund — no questions. The goal is for this to genuinely work for you.
